MOPSO Based Multidimensional MPPT Control for Converters in PV Array

T.P. Anusha, T.P. Athisha

Abstract

Ever increasing cost of launching a space craft into space is a major driving force, behind the efforts to minimize the volume and weight of the different systems the spacecraft comprises. Power system constitutes around 25% of total dry spacecraft mass, while solar array account for 90% of the power system. Erroneous measurement of solar array voltage and current degrades the performance. To increase the performance this paper proposes the method multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) to implement the Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) by controlling the current and voltage flow of the solar array. First, the measurement of solar radiation energy in PV. MOPSO is applied to estimate and control the optimal insolation of PV and settling time of converter so as to output the maximum power and stability. Finally, the result reveals that the power system discussed in this paper extracts the maximum output power of PV array within the short duration even in the conditions of insolation and load impedance variation.
