Study of Aqueous Solutions of D-Sorbitol based on the Ultrasonic Velocity
Abstract
Ultrasonic technology is a powerful and effective tool for predicting molecular interactions in liquid mixtures. As far as liquid mixtures are concerned, the interactions reported so far are those between molecules. These types of intermolecular forces can be divided into two types: long and short. Long-distance interactions occur when electron clouds of interacting molecules overlap, which are caused by electrostatic induction and dissipation forces. Short-range interactions occur due to dipole dipole, dipole induced dipole, charge transfer, complex formation and hydrogen bonding interactions. These forces are created when molecules are close enough to cause significant overlap of electron clouds, and are generally highly directional. Long-distance interactions cause van der Waals forces to exist between molecules in the liquid, and the behavior of the liquid depends on this force.
