Injection Effects on a Vertical Channel Embedded in Porous Medium with Transpiration Cooling and Heat Source

M. Vidhya, Sundarammal Kesavan, A. Govindarajan

Abstract

The three dimensional convection flow of a viscous incompressible fluid through a long vertical channelembedded in a porous medium with heat source and whose one side is made of a porous plate while the other is impermeable plate is discussed. The fluid is injected with a uniform velocity. A set of non linear ordinary differential equations results and solved analytically. The effects of injection and permeability parameters on flow variables with heat source have been presented graphically. It is found that the axial velocity profiles increases with an increase in permeability of the porous medium. Skin friction components for both normal and axial velocity profiles increases when there is an increase in Reynolds number. For lower injection rate and permeability, it is reversed. It is also noted that the heat transfer increases with an increase in Reynolds number Re for both air and water.
