A Hybrid Joint Call Admission Control Algorithm for Next Generation Network to Enhance Connection Level QOS

J. Pradeep, R. Nakkeeran

Abstract

Next Generation Wireless Networks (NGWN) necessitates joint radio resource management to enhance QoS provisioning and efficient radio resource utilization. The objectives of the Joint Call Admission Control (JCAC) algorithm are to uniformly distribute the traffic load among the available Radio Access Technologies (RATs), to provide priority to handoff calls and hence to enhance connection-level QoS. The study of network has been done separately using load based and service based approaches for selecting the most appropriate radio access technologies and compared. An algorithm is proposed, hybrid JCAC, to overcome the limitations of load and service based JCAC by combining them. It manages load and service conditions efficiently. The numerical results obtained show that overall call dropping probability in heterogeneous network is reduced significantly.
