Abstract

The electric power grid is a complex interconnected system. The state estimation with phasor measurement units (PMU) are powerful technique for system monitoring and control. The results of state estimation are more accurate, when using phasor measurement units in the complex power systems. The state estimation problem in electrical power system consists of many basic operations, one of them, detection and identification of bad measurement. In this paper a proposed technique of state estimation using phasor measurement units is discussed and implemented. Furthermore, it is also shown that bad data in any of the measurements can be detected and identified provided certain redundancy requirements are met. The technique is applied to IEEE 30 nodes system. Test results show the effectiveness of the proposed method to improve the quality of the state estimator solution, and led to reliable and trustable system when feeding the nuclear installations.
