An Improved Design of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Reluctance Motor Using Finite Element Method

D. Vimalakeerthy, Dr. M. Y. Sanavullah

Abstract

A novel machine- Permanent Magnet Synchronous Reluctance Motor (PMSRM) with improved design is proposed.PMSRM is highly preferred due to its ability to operate at cremental speeds and at full load when compared with Induction Motor. Method of reducing the cogging torque is discussed. A new design in the rotor part especially in rotor flux barriers has been introduced. The proposed design and its analysis are given. The design parameters are analyzed using Finite Element Analysis. This improved design enables the machine for High Performance Applications like fiber spinning application, robotics and heavy duty printers.
