Secure and Cost Effective Design for Controlling Electronic Appliances

D. Shashanka

Abstract

This paper demonstrates a novel method which enable the users to control electronic appliances from anywhere in the world through communication network using DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) technology via Global System for Mobile communication (GSM). Security and cost effective designs are gaining importance in our day-to-day life. Here is a secure cost effective design of a system that can only be accessed by the authorized person who knows the password of the system. There are two passwords, first one to get the access to the system and second one to operate on the system. The DTMF tones have been generated by using a mobile phone and relay circuit is used to control the ac supply. The experimental result indicates that the system designed is very secure, efficient and portable.
