Wireless and its Operating Features in Real Time World

P. JaikumarAravaanan, P. Josephine Arul Priya

Abstract

In today’s world, Internet plays a vital role in executing business and personal needs. There are various ways available in accessing the internet. They fall under two categories, Wired and Wireless.  The Wired communication uses cables for connecting and transmitting among devices whereas Wireless provides internet connectivity through radio waves. There are different kinds of Wireless networks. Some of them are as follows: Personal Area Network (PAN) whose range is within the personal devices of a person such as computers, tablets, phones etc. Local Area Network (LAN) whose scope is within a building or a campus. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) whose range extends within a city whereas Wide Area Network (WAN) extends worldwide. In Cellular network or mobile network, the network is distributed over land areas called cells, where the final connection is wireless.  Global Area Network (GAN) is the one that has different interconnected networks that cover an unlimited geographical area and Space Network (SN) combines space and ground elements to support space craft communications. This article provides key topics that include wireless components such as Access point and Wireless Controllers, its functionality and their use in the real time world.

Keywords

Access Point, Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP), Service Set Identifier (SSID), The Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP), Wireless, Wireless Controller, Wireless Control System (WCS).
