Non-invasive Techniques for Induction Motor Fault Detection

Nilashri P. Sakhalkar, Pragati Korde

Abstract

This paper presents implementation of broken rotor bar faults and vibration faults in induction motor by using the technique of Motor Current Signature Analysis. Here we discuss the basics of Motor Current Signature Analysis and condition monitoring of induction motor. For broken rotor faults we measure current through transformer and for vibration faults we use ADXL 335 vibration sensor. From the current and vibration signal we extract characteristic frequencies and apply Fast Fourier Transform for detection of faults .MATLAB is used for the implementation of FFT algorithm.
