Abstract

Gas leakage can cause major incidents resulting in both human injuries and financial losses. To avoid such situations detecting gas leakage in pipeline using pressure sensor with a help of Arduino microcontroller. This study numerically investigates leakage detection and location in a simple gas pipeline branch using transient signals from an array of pressure sensors. Two monitoring methods were tested for leakage detection and location these include cross-correlation monitoring and pressure sensor differential monitoring. The performances were monitored using SCADA programming and simulation results for a simple pipeline branch process with an agreed leakage rate (5% of total flow rate in the gas pipeline).
