A New Method of Sending Mobile Software Activation Key using SMS Module

Chandrakant Badgaiyan, Ashish Kumar Dewangan

Abstract

After the advances in mobile phone industry we can offer various software for mobile phones. Most of these software should be bought in order that we can use them. Most of mobile software are sharewares and after purchasing them we have to insert an activation code given by the manufacturing company based on our mobile IMEI code or any other unique number in order to activate the software. In this paper a new method is proposed for sending the mobile software activation code by SMS Module. In this activation code is sent to the user using SMS, mobile software will itself receive SMS by SMS Module and activation code extracted from it. The software extracting the activation code from the SMS automatically and compare it with the code which is generated based on the user’s mobile phone IMEI code. If the codes match, the software is activated. Therefore the security of activation code is increased and no risk of SMS message having Activation Key is getting stolen as mobile software will directly receive SMS and extract it. This project is implemented in J2ME language and tested on a Nokia Supernova 6710 mobile phone.
