Numerical Solutions of Free Convection Flow past a Vertical Cone and Horizontally Inclined Plate

Bapuji Pullepu, P. Sambath

Abstract

Natural convection effects of the transient laminar flow past a (two dimensional axi- symmetrical shape bodies) a vertical cone and (plane shape bodies) flow over semi infinite vertical /inclined plates considered here. the dimensionless governing boundary layer equations are unsteady and coupled non linear integro partial differential are solved by an efficient, accurate and unconditionally stable finite difference scheme of Crank-Nicholson type. In the air (Pr = 0.71) and water (Pr = 7.0) the velocity and temperature of flow have been studied for different parameters S=1 or 0 and angles /(for cone/inclined plate). The local as well as average skin-friction and Nusselt number are also presented and analyzed graphically. The present results (both flow past an axi-symmetrical and plane shape bodies) are compared with available results in open literature and found to be in excellent agreement.
