Cloud Computing –An Analysis of Change in Trends

T. T. Sherly, C. R. Vyshak, P. J. Jincy

Abstract

The term “Cloud Computing” is a recent buzzword in the IT world, also it is using in one form or other. Behind this we can see the future of computing for both in technical and social perspective [1]. Though the idea of Cloud Computing is recent, we can find its roots in the early 1990s. It can be considered as an extended form of grid Computing and utility computing. Cloud Computing is aimed at providing IT as a service to the cloud user’s on-demand basis with greater flexibility, availability, reliability and scalability with utility computing model. This new paradigm of computing has an immense potential in it to be used in the field of e-governance and in rural development perspective in developing countries like India. Electricity and Water are supplying to the public nowadays. Likewise computing can be provided to the public using Cloud Computing. Resource sharing in a pure plug and play model that dramatically simplifies infrastructure planning is the promise of Cloud Computing [2]. The two key advantages of this model are ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness. Using this business enterprisers can reduce their cost and maintenance charges. This paper introduces internet-based Cloud Computing, exploring the characteristics, service models, and deployment in use today, as well as the benefits and challenges associated with cloud computing [2] [3].  Also discussed are the communication devices in the cloud and the importance of scalability and flexibility in a cloud based environment.
