A Study on the Scope of Bigdata Analytics towards Smart Cities

Abstract


Data from citizens, systems, and general things are the single most scalable resources available to Smart City stakeholders today. This Big Data is constantly captured through sensors and from open data sources. More and more data services for city officials, utility services, and citizens become available, which allows efficient access and use of big data, a necessary requirement for Smart Cities. Smart cities is a term that has gained attraction in academia, business and government to describe cities that, on the one hand, are increasingly composed of and monitored by pervasive and ubiquitous computing and, on the other, whose economy and governance is being driven by innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship enacted by smart. This paper focuses on the details how cities are being instrumented with digital devices and infrastructure that produce ‘big data’. The big data –smart city advocates argue enable real time analysis of city life, new modes of  urban governance and provides the raw material for envisioning and enacting more efficient, sustainable,  Competitive, productive, open and Transparent cities.
